I am so excited to share with you guys the photo session I took this week of my friend Errika and her beautiful daughter doing yoga together. I first met Errika in 2007 when we were both stationed in Sicily. She was an ER doctor, and part time yoga teacher. I was in the midst of recovering from a bout of viral meningitis, and a close friend whom I worked with recommended that I try out Errika’s yoga class on base. I will always be grateful to my friend for encouraging me to go, not only did I fall in love with yoga, but I also gained a new friendship with a very inspiring woman.
It has been seven years since I first met Errika, and we can now call ourselves veterans and mothers. After Sicily, we both ended up in California for a time, but we never connected again until we both found ourselves here in Naples. Though my time here in Naples is just beginning, Errika and her family are now journeying back to the states to start their new chapter in Florida. I am so thankful we were able to get together before she left to take these photos. I really enjoyed watching her and her daughter interact on the mat and I hope that one-day Sadie and I can do the same. It’s never too early to start, nor too late for that matter!
Before the photos start, let me first just say that Errika is one of those women you aspire to be. She’s served our country, both in uniform and as a civilian, and though she is trained to heal your physical body as a Doctor, through teaching yoga, she helps heal your spirit too; I can attest to that firsthand. So, I hope you all enjoy these photos, because I truly enjoyed taking them.
